Inventory Automation

My Internship at NomadGo:

As an Agricultural Business major at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I’ve spent the last few years studying how food systems work - from the supply chain to store shelves. One class that really stuck with me was Food and Fiber Marketing, where I learned how independent grocers manage their inventory. Many of them still rely on manual stock counts, often spending hours a week tracking products by hand. It lacks consistency and precision, making it difficult for operators to trust the data that drives their bottom line.

When I first saw a demo of NomadGo’s Inventory AI, it felt like a lightbulb moment. A quick phone or tablet scan that digitizes inventory counts with accuracy and speed!? I immediately thought of the grocers I’d studied and how transformational this would be for them. I was excited by the technology, and even more excited when I had the chance to join NomadGo as a Sales & Marketing Intern.

Inventory, Reimagined

NomadGo isn’t just building software; it’s transforming how businesses handle one of their most fundamental operations: inventory. The impact reaches across the board. For managers, it provides consistency, transparency, and confidence in their data. For employees on the ground, it removes the burden of manual counts, freeing up time and eliminating frustration. It's a win at every level, and that kind of positive ripple effect is what makes being part of this company so energizing. What’s impressed me most is how aligned the team is around this mission. Every department moves quickly, collaborates constantly, and cares deeply about delivering value. There’s a sense of shared ownership that’s rare…

Contributing & Learning

Throughout my time here, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute in ways that support the overall sales process, strengthening the pipeline and helping streamline internal workflows. But what’s been even more meaningful is the exposure I’ve had to how a high-performing startup operates. I’ve been welcomed into strategic conversations, encouraged to share ideas, and trusted to help drive initiatives forward. There’s no “intern” label here. I feel like a full member of the team, collaborating alongside seasoned professionals and working on a product that’s making a real impact.

Looking Ahead

This experience is a defining moment in my journey. I’ve seen firsthand how the right technology, backed by the right people, can create lasting change in an industry. I’m proud to be part of a company that’s leading that charge, and even more excited about what’s ahead. As I continue growing with NomadGo, I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to something so meaningful. There’s still so much to learn, and I’m eager to keep learning from this team and pushing the vision forward.

Personal Bio:

Gavan Hanspal | Sales & Marketing Intern

Gavan grew up on Mercer Island, Washington, and is currently finishing his Agricultural Business degree at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Over the years, he’s stayed busy balancing school with side hustles, learning early on that momentum often comes from being willing to wear a lot of hats. One of his first significant milestones was growing a Shopify e-commerce portfolio that was acquired in 2020. That win didn’t mark the end of anything; it just opened the door to more.

Since then, Gavan has launched several lean ventures, some of which found traction, while others brought valuable lessons. He is especially passionate about the business side of early-stage growth, figuring out what moves the needle, how to streamline internal processes, and where to double down for scale.

Outside of work and school, you’ll usually find him hiking, camping, or training in the gym. Gavan is drawn to the pace and ambiguity of the startup world, where no two days look the same, and real progress comes from staying curious and adaptable.
